Carlos Rios- Percussion

Carlos was born in Laredo Texas and moved to San Antonio at the age of 14.During his high school years, he participated in the band. After graduation, He played in the 4th U.S. Army band at Ft. Sam Houston and later served as a bandsman with the U.S. Army in West Germany(as it was called then) for almost two years.

Carlos has a BA degree in Music Education and a Masters degree in Music Education. Most of Carlos career after his service in the military was a music teacher. His favorite saying applied not only to himself but to all his students, "Follow through!"

In addition to teaching music, Carlos, played in bands at San Antonio College and St. Mary's University. He also played with the San Antonio Municipal Band nearly ten years and played with the Crimson Jazz Orchestra for six years.

 


















Morgan LeethMorgan Leeth- Bass

Morgan's motto is "Where there is a will, there is a way!" It took lots of will to meet the challenges Morgan faced since his birth in Riverton, Wyoming. His father was a surveyor for an oil exploration company so Morgan found himself living in a different place sometimes up to three times per year. When asked where he grew up, you can imagine that Morgan would have a long list.

It is probably best then to state that Morgan received his high school diploma at Hico High School in the Texas. He was able finally able to settle down in Stephanville, Texas and earn a BS in Music Education at Tarleton State University.

Morgan, invested his life, skills, and passion for music in the lives of young people as a band director for 33 years. He directed the band program for 4 of the those years at Carrizo Springs. He moved to Hulett, Wyoming and managed their program for three years. It was in San Antonio that Morgan found a place to stay! He served as band director at East Central High for the next 26 years!

Morgan loves playing bass! Over the years he has participated in many bands that play "oldies-but-goodies", blues, and jazz. Morgan also loves to draw portraits. He repairs computers, tunes pianos, and even plays classical guitar.














Randy Rudd - Latin Percussion

Randy was born in the old Texas cattle town of Abilene. After high school Randy studied music and film at North Texas State University and eventually graduated from Texas Tech University with a BA in Advertising, Mass Communications, and Art. After winning several awards for his films, Randy moved to Hollywood, landing a job at Paramount Pictures as a Creative Director serving as a motion picture writer, producer and director.

Randy loves music. Though he primarily plays Latin percussion for the Lamplighters, Randy also owns and plays the chromatic harmonica, tenor banjo, guitar, uke, bass, guitar, trombone, kettle drums and even a Theremin. He also has composed and performed film, television, and TV commercial soundtracks as well as studio recordings. Over the years Randy originated many bands including “Johnny Dee and the Rocket 88s” and “The Amazing Echoes” prior to joining the Lamplighters.

If you were to ask Randy what his hobbies are other than music you would hear him state two unique interests: automata and pet monkeys. Yes, monkeys! Presently, Rudd is President and Creative Director of his own company, Rudd Creative.









Frank Haecker - Guitar

Frank plays a mean guitar. Every once in a while we let him loose to riff all over those strings.
