James Morales-
Lead Trumpet
James Morales graduated from Burbank H. S. in 1980, he went to U.T.S.A. and majored in music education. He earned his degree in music
education(BME) and has been teaching for the past 17 years. He commenced his teaching career in middle school and is now the head band director at Burbank High School. His bands have won numeous awards including U.I.L. Sweepstakes Awards.
David
Turner -
Second Trumpet.
Dave hails from Takoma Park, Maryland. He holds a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Utah and is an Assistant Director at Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio. Doctor Dave has been plugging away at the trumpet for over 30 years now. While pursuing undergraduate degrees in Music and Geology, Dave joined the marching band at the College of William and Mary. It seemed natural enough. But that's where he found the love of his life Kristy, who is also an accomplished trumpet player (in fact, she's a third generation trumpet player!). Following a tour through community bands in Salt Lake City, Dave and Kristy made the move to the Alamo City in 1990. A gig here and a German band there, and Dave became one of the charter members of the Lamplighters in 1994. Dave and Kristy are now the proud parents of Austin, Michelle, and James, who share their parent's love of music. Someday maybe they'll be playing their great great grandpa's horn, as a fourth generation begins to find its chops! With these genes, the result is sure to be spectacular! Don Triplett
- 3rd Trumpet
Don hails from historic
Culpeper, VA (a town named after one of the infamous absentee governors of
the Virginia colonies, Lord Culpeper, who won the governorship from King
George in a poler game....oh, and George Washington slept there,
too!). Don received his B.S. in commerce from the University of
Virginia and an M. A. in counseling from Ball State University. He
spent 24 years in the Air Force as an electronic warefare officer (EWO)
with flying tours as a B-52 EWO and backseater in the F-4C and F-4G Wild
Weasel fighter aircraft, which included a Viet Nam combat tour during the
Linebacker 2 operation in 1972. Don retired as a lieutenant colonel
and ran a carpet cleaning franchise for 8 years. He now is in new
product sales and motivational speaking. By now you've noticed a
decided lack of musical training in Don's background -- cause it's not
there! Pretty much got it the hard way on his own (well, we did have
to teach him to blow into the little end of his horn...) Don has
played in a number of concert and jazz bands in Ft Walton Beach, FL, and
here in San Antonio, TX. He doubles on the didjeridoo and is a
practicing Reiki Master and sound resonance therapist. Guess he
hasn't decided yet what he wants to do when he grows up -- we're
just glad he keeps putting air through his horn! Jack BushNo bio information available.
